Shinigami Record III  (シニガミレコードIII Shinigami Rekōdo III) is the thirty-third chapter of the Kagerou Daze manga.

Summary[]

Azami is confused by her sudden change of appearance, but the snake that she has been talking to confirms that she looked like that from the beginning, even though she wasn't aware of it. As she stares at herself in the reflection of the water, she asks what is happening to her, though the snake has no answer. Azami mentally commentates that the snake hasn't been really helpful, but the snake suggests that as far as it can tell, Azami is trying to become "something". She quickly dismisses the snake, saying that she was always herself and that that is what she wants to learn. The snake apologizes and then excuses itself back to its dwelling. Azami thanks the snake for its help, and stands up and glances again at her reflection. She concludes that she will never discover what she needs in that cave and hopes that she won't be attacked. As she is walking away, already out of breath, she complains how fragile her body is and how something more robust would've been nice.
The scene changes to a large building surrounded by a metal fence, where Azami is trying to convince the guards to let her in. She explains that she wants to meet the man that said he knew everything about her and that because of that she did all that he wanted from her. The guards only respond by laughing at her, which makes her increasingly angrier. As she is berating the men, she notices the man she has been seeking looking at her from the window. She grabs the bars of the metal fence and yells how the man has tricked her, but as she does this, she is surrounded by a group of guards carrying swords. One of the guards tries to reason with her, telling her to give up, but Azami uses her Locking Eyes on him, turning him to stone. While one of the men threatens her, she thinks about the last time she used her eye ability in a church where she was forced to play the role of "god". She continues to think about how the only thing she gains from humans is contempt and disappointment, and yet every time she gets the feeling of hope. As the group of men prepares to attack her, she uses her Drawing Eyes ability to focus their attention on her, and immediately after that she activates Locking Eyes. Before the men are completely turned into stone, Azami manages to hear one of the guard's thoughts asking what she is through her Stealing Eyes. Before she leaves, she answers that man's question, saying that they would call her a monster. The man in the building has already fled, which makes Azami realize that no person knows what she is. She sits on the ground crying and wishes that the thing that created her would reveal itself and put a stop to her misery.
Inside of a forest, Azami is extremely tired and covered with scratches. After she was deceived by the man from the building and assaulted by the guards, she decided that she would live in solitude, in a place where no one would notice her. She stumbles on a rock and falls to the ground, she tries to reassure herself that the place she is looking for isn't far away. On the last panel of the chapter, Tsukihiko is seen sitting on a rock underneath a shade.
