Kagerou Daze (カゲロウデイズ Kagerō Deizu) is a manga series written by Jin (Shizen no Teki-P) and illustrated by Mahiro Satou as well as the sequel to the MusicRoute[1][2]. It was serialized in the Japanese magazine Monthly Comic Gene from June 15, 2012 to February 15, 2019. After the first 4 chapters were released, Media Factory published the first official volume of the manga. The series, along with the light novels, is licensed by Yen Press in North America.
The manga entered its climax during the 11th volume and ended with the 13th volume[3]. The story is followed by the NovelRoute[4].
Kagerou Daze's debut issue included the Mekakucity Days -trial edition- CD, which was a crossfade containing snippets of the album totaling 6 minutes and 10 seconds.[9]
The manga has 4.3 million copies in print as of September 27, 2018.[10].
Lost Day Hour is the only chapter illustrated by Sayuki instead of Mahiro Satou.
Jin directly wrote the dialogue for the manga and was also in charge of the original story for it.[11] He also wrote the light novels, the storyboard of the manga and the songs at the same time.[12][13]
↑'From that point on, as I wrote the novel, the storyboard of the manga and the songs at the same time, I thought I should properly make something that I truly believed to be cool, touching, passionate and that could shake hearts. One may say this was like going back to base zero in a sense, but instead, it might just be that I no longer felt the need to listen to the adults surrounding me after I myself became an adult. Of course, even now, I’m helpless if no one assists me, but I just want to be the one taking responsibility for the things I say and do. I want to transmit what I believe in.' - Jin, Kai-You 2016 Interview
